How Much Does A Hemodialysis Tech Make In Seattle

incontinence Vidal verbose

"The political heirs of the dictatorship not teach us to address the issues of human rights. "This sentence is dismissed the government spokesman Francisco Vidal told RN's claims for the preparation of lists of the Disappeared. When many call for the renewal of the policy or change urges us, we mean exactly that. People like Vidal minister living in the past that it is impossible to overcome. Never, while in power, will stop looking at the world from the perspective of the Cold War that cost so dear, Chile during many years.

I think it is worth examining how wrong, hateful and lacking high-mindedness of the comments of the minister, better or for worse, he is best known for his media errors that approval of its management. Vidal is the symbol of people yesterday, those who are not intended to overcome the differences in our country, but keep looking as long as possible, that it is impossible to think that what unites us as a country is more than what separates us. In times like these, where all potential presidential candidates are people who take more than 20 years in the political arena, it becomes more urgent than ever that we look to those able to overcome the past, but not to forget or disregard, but accountability and learning.

are millions of young people who have grown up (and most born) in a democracy. Our life has been marked by human rights violations or by the odiosidades that led to the fateful years of dictatorship. However, we can understand the anger and frustration of thousands before it happened. What we'll never be able to accept is that what happened 20 years ago continue tying to revive indefinitely Chile odiosidades. If you do not raise our voice against those who seek to live the winter of 80, then continue to have ministers and officials as Vidal, who did not hesitate to disqualify political opponents instead of governing for all Chileans. Fortunately, these statements are increasingly understood as a lack of tact of the states rather than the official version of a government to which he ever is less.
Chile
If you ever going to overcome past differences, will happen when we are able to change not only the ideas, but people and styles. If these men of yesterday we still rule, if the same issues of yesterday are the ones we see in the newspaper and if it is still hateful style that prevails in official statements, Chile will be unable to meet its new century of life with an optimistic message. It's time to renew the policy, to change sides, contents and styles, so we will not have to suffer lapses of incontinence Minister verbose turn.

Wedding Shower Treepoem

The return of the old policy

Perhaps few know what the Subdere, many have never even heard about it. But the few who will know the name of this public agency, usually associated with the payment for political favors, to the delivery of resources for election campaigns or other acts of questionable legality. Also, many leaders of the old guard have been there concertacionista as current Minister Francisco Vidal.

If during the Bachelet government have not heard much comment on the Subdere, it is because the President decided to charge someone with credentials to ensure proper management. It was not a person who does not know technocrat and political patterns, but they put Claudia Serrano, a former militant PS and had a strange mix - almost non-existent in much of the political - between ideals, highly educated, professional and rigor. If we have known little of the Subdere in the media over the past 3 years, it is because this division is dedicated to do their job the right way, without falling into abuse of authority or resources. In that sense, the designation of Serrano as Minister of Labor is a great loss to the Subdere and posed a challenge huge in the appointment of his successor (a).

a couple of days ago we learned that President Bachelet decided to implement this strategic position as a militant socialist - cuoteo heir in office - Mahmud Aleuy. The new secretary already has quite a history within the Concertación. Considered the electoral expert from your store has a priori rejection by most of the Alliance.

Remembered is your application for membership of the board of TVN, which was rejected by the right, arguing that made them fear that Aleuy, - who has an extensive resume of political operative - would break the fragile balance that works directory state channel. Aleuy, as President of The Nation, gave the nod to the cover the date of dismissal of Yasna Provoste, which threatened the parliamentarians who had to decide the future of the former minister.

Finally, the profile of the new rigor Subdere far shown by his predecessor and his previous actions put a warning light on its new management. In short, he was given a checkbook with six hundred billion pesos, in an election year, a person who has dedicated himself to get elected candidates of his coalition. This year, the Subdere, hopefully more talk about public policy or development of quotas, of posters, plans geo-referenced or overdubs.

Not surprisingly, then, that leaders like Escalona Auth or publicly rejoice at the appointment, while soban hands thinking about how this is going to help the squalid party coffers. Better or for worse, Bachelet, with this appointment, he was right on the old politics, that he clings with claws and teeth, if not with public funds, to power.

limits of intellectual property (Capital Journal column

Dear reader, if you buy an original CD of his favorite band, in an established and ballot, you know you can not transfer it to your MP3 player because it is a violation of copyright law? Or if you're a student, you know that if your teacher gives a test reading a particular book, and it happens that is not available in the library, he can not make photocopies? Welcome, then, in Chile, a country clearly behind in intellectual property issues and copyright.

digital and Internet technologies have brought new challenges to artistic production and cultural, especially with regard to the protection of copyright. Nobody denies that the effort made by an artist when you create a value. Is the cultural production that reflects our feelings and social conflict, which makes present, transmits and challenges us to take care of their themes. Clearly, those who opt to live like this deserve proper recognition and why not, a well-deserved financial reward.

Internet raises complex in regulating these issues. Streaming music, videos, books or other content for free, instant, brings an apparent injury to the creators, who are forgoing money that should enter into their pockets, at least under present standards. To fix this, along with other issues, is working on a new Intellectual Property Law.

For months, various groups interested in the subject, most civil society representatives met in order to reach consensus regarding exceptions and new paradigms of intellectual property. The artists gathered in the AN (National Union of Artists) have proposed that companies that deliver Internet service to take responsibility for any use that their users to provide connections for a fee that can "alleviate" the alleged injury suffered. What they do not understand is that Internet changed forever the way to understand and convey the culture and fight or fight the users will never be the way to solve the problem. Bands like Radiohead and Nine Inch Nails lights have new ways to understand this market, with an emphasis on live shows and releasing their songs. They have perceived that the public rewards their faithfulness to those who can connect with their interests. It would be a shame that the representatives of culture, so successful at the time of expressing the course of time, fail in this monumental task of understanding the world has changed, and forever.

Saying To Write In Bachelorette Card

The Populist Argentina

What is worse than putting a fox in a henhouse? That's what millions of Argentines are asking these days. And the question is not random, especially after its president, Cristina Kirchner has decided to send a bill proposing the nationalization of the pension system, the Pension Funds. No doubt a controversial measure that goes against the American tendency to hand over private management of these funds, an idea born in the Chilean military dictatorship.

The Argentine pension system is in trouble, there's no doubt. It is estimated that the loss of savings the system would reach 50%, mainly due to fluctuations that have occurred in the markets in times of crisis. Given this scenario, Argentina creativity knows no bad times and the order of a federal judge has stopped savers withdrawing their funds, ie money.

In addition, Mrs. K, as Chavez in their approach and as capitalist in your shopping list, has decided to solve its cash shortage with a booty that is clearly attractive: pension funds. It is not illogical to think that a fund of such proportions to give you more liquidity to the government, and last, we can handle a bulging current account. Better or for worse, not all Argentines are going to retire today, so that several million dollars available. The concern is that there are a number of questions that arise from the measure, and have not been completely resolved by the Government. First, it is not clear the criteria by which the Government intends to manage that money, do not know whether to make it profitable, keep it fixed or other funds. We do not know what will be the amount which will ensure the state nor the mechanism of contribution. Moreover, there is no clarity of the system to take to seize the funds. It could be an expropriation AFJP, a compulsory purchase or another alternative.

If we are dealing with a country which has not been achieved due to retire even the first generation of people under this system, we can try to evaluate it badly seriously. In addition, those who suffered the change of regime and suffered the first loss for it, and with this, assume a new one without guarantee anything in return. In my opinion, this measure is due solely and exclusively, to a whimsical populist maneuver worthy of financial and political mess that reigns beyond the Andes. It remains surprising that a country with more resources in the region have very high levels of poverty and corruption, where its citizens do not trust in the destination state to give their money and have never raised their retirement based on their life savings. Argentina is not an example to follow, at least in this area, but no shortage of nostalgic voices that want to return to the model where the state claimed all, taking himself out of business and away from the desired sustainability.

Brent Corrigan Y Everest

* Column published in the counter.

I am not a criminal, at least I think so. It seems that in recent days, a group of artists, thinks otherwise. During the past week, several blogs as Release of Digital or Digital Rights NGO, unveiled the existence of a secret agreement between the Government of Chile and the SCD (confirmed by them in their corporate blog.) This agreement, signed on the backs of citizens, they remembered a series of measures that the Government undertook to assist in the processing of the current draft law on Intellectual Property, which is in Congress. From this point of view, the situation is worrying since the last time a junior government minister, former Ferreiro - tried to hide an agreement with Microsoft, had to take back foot. But beyond the gesture, what really matters is the terms of that agreement, which not only restricts freedoms that exist today, but assumes that all people, just to perform certain actions, we are criminals.

The first point I want to emphasize is that the SCD responsible for the music piracy and illegal downloading of mp3 to Internet Service Providers (ISP). His theory is based on these companies provide content indiscriminately, promoting the conditions for committing an offense. Therefore, the best solution would create a fee to charge operators, which would solve the "cost" which involves flushing the rights of artists. In this interpretation are born several observations.

First, ISPs can not and should not discriminate on the content passing through their cables. Its function is to provide Internet access without any restrictions regarding content or download method. Bans of this type, allows people not able to decide for themselves what they see and how to view it. If I decide to access illegal content, I am responsible for this crime and the ISP should not assume a priori action.

On the other hand, if they are charged to the ISP, these transfers that cost to users, and thus those who are online should pay for the mere possibility that at some point in their navigation to access even the option to download music or content protected by SCD. That is, if I hold my Internet connection to check e I pay my neighbor low cost films for it. Finally, if this rate would imply that the DSS was given for those fees paid for use of intellectual property and let me legally download, free of charge all the content would probably gladly pay a fixed rate that would allow such action . But no, downloading music illegally will remain crime and as that happens, the SCD will be billed for the mere fact that we have the ability to download music. Right, right?

Another "remarkable" is that it eliminates categories such as fair use or private copying. That is, for the SCD (and the government, apparently) if I copy a CD that I bought legally to my computer or Ipod, I am committing a crime. Even if the band I love and decide to advertise for others to buy the record. Also, if a school teacher sent me a text to read, I can not get copies to study. Even think to scan the text and send it to my friends.

Not content with this, the DSS and the Government have agreed to terminate the waiver of the right to intellectual property. In other words, less legalistic, it is that if an artist decides to give his work to the world or stop charging for their rights, can not. Basically, entities of collective management of rights (which in Chile is only the DSS) will continue to receive this corresponds to use these works, although its author does not want to and have donated. Where is the freedom of the artist? Do not know, but I get the impression that Radiohead and Nine Inch Nails would not be happy with our country.

These are not the only points of the agreement, but they are the ones I care and attention. In any case, it is questionable attitude of the Government to make an agreement behind closed doors, with only one of the actors involved in the discussion, ignoring the rest of the stakeholders. It is important to mention that until last week, there was a desk between the Government and civil society (which was the SCD) and, obviously, broke with this eventuality. I am not a criminal, especially because I firmly believe in the error of this agreement and I am aware that the benefit of a few is the harm of all.

List Of English Words Used In French

I'm not a criminal why should Obama win

The U.S. elections have been, as ever, an issue in our country and the world. The message of hope and change has brought Democratic candidate, in addition to facing one of the most attractive candidates for the Republican Party has, generate a set of conclusions, only 3 weeks before the election.

First, this election means the end of Reaganism or Republican doctrine based on the glorification of "American values." Both candidates are freaks in their games. Obama represents a different twist to the traditional heads Democrats, who since Howard Dean who did not have another alternative. On the Republican side, McCain is no traditionalist. The veteran is making an analogy to our situation in Chile, a conservative maverick. Not only faced hard with Bush on issues like torura prisoners of war and the health system, but has worked in various bipartisan initiatives. McCain has not been a hard conservative, his views on abortion or gay marriage have not been sharp, at least until the election began.

Republican, with the experience of having lost the last primary against Bush, knows that to reach the hearts of the electorate, should resign their positions more progressive and has had a speech slip attached to the conservative line. Deserves special mention your choice of Vice President, summoning an unknown Sarah Palin, whose greatest merit is to represent, in the flesh values \u200b\u200bof the "deep America."

the other hand, Obama represents a outsider within his party. Is a candidate raised by the foundation and who has dared to face the epitome of Democratic establishment: the Clintons. It has already achieved the other party's powerful family, the Kennedys, the support from the outset. Obama is the embodiment of the American dream, the country of freedoms. The candidate does not tire of repeating that in any other country in the world could be a candidate for president. And not without reason, he is the son of a white woman from Texas and a Nigerian middle class, born and raised in Hawaii, won Grammy and studied at one of the best universities in the world. Not only that, he devoted his life to service and is today the only black U.S. senator

In conclusion, this is an unusual choice, which implicitly recognizes the failure of the Bush doctrine, not only on domestic issues but foreign policy. The way U.S. relates to the world will undergo changes, whatever the outcome of the election.

Second, beyond each other's stories, an interesting fact to analyze the voting behavior that has occurred in recent U.S. elections. The north country has a system of elcción complex where the most important is not the national majority, but the number of Electoral Votes (EV) obtained by each candidate. Thus, establishing a mechanism through which each state represents a particular númerdo votes and where the candidate receiving a majority of the state takes them all. Never mind winning by one vote or a thousand, all the votes that count are mine. Al Gore suffered firsthand the complexity of the system, losing to Bush in an election where you had the vote of a majority of Americans. (Below is an excellent video that explains how the system)

The latest polls give an edge between 5 and 8 points to Obama nationally, but that does not says nothing if not analyze the EV count. To analyze this, we make three distinctions: the safe states (solid ), states that lean ( leaning ) and uncertain states ( toss up). If the election were held today, and predicted by the polls continues, Obama should win by a margin of 364 to 174, whereas 270 are required to win. Considering that polls tend to tighten as the closer the elections, we would expect a smaller difference.

The key to this election is to secure those states that favored the party in 2004 and try to take any opponent. If we see it from that perspective, McCain not only states that Bush said he Gando in 2004 (as the disputed Florida now appears to be undecided), but has definitely lost states such as Colorado. Obama, moreover, not only assured the states that Kerry won, but it has gradually wresting electoral votes to the Republicans.

Given this scenario, it seems impossible that McCain succeeded in reversing the momentum Obama living, but you still have some alternatives. The first, and missed and was hung on the figure of the Democratic and try to confuse the electorate to show as well. With this, any consideration when voting would be over welcomed by the staff for ideas or projects (basically the same argument that took Bachelet 2005). The other option is to attack the opponent. Through a series of indirect ways - religious, interest, fans or other - the Republican has sown doubts about the ties Obama to terrorist groups, replicating the phenomenon to the point that the hatred becomes extreme. Republican already lived in person a few weeks ago, when he had to appease some of his supporters, who showed a deep hatred for Obama. Clearly this strategy is not proving as good as they would like a more conservative, but is likely to undermine a little take advantage of them so far. We

However, in my opinion, Obama will win, more or less slack on 4 November. Not only by a personal conviction of the qualities of the candidate, but for the budding stage and electoral projections. To the extent that nothing happens unique - style 11 / M that ousted Aznar's English government - the trend should be maintained and, therefore, would have the first black president in U.S. history

Netroots Rising: Book Review in magazine Que Pasa

Today Friday 10 October, was released in Que Pasa review I wrote the book Netroots Rising. This delighted, because it must be one of the texts I have written has given me more satisfaction. Unfortunately, however, did not leave the thanks I asked Claudio Orrego for lending me the book and for being the only Chilean politician is a day and knows perfectly the world of Politics 2.0. Without further ado, here's the review (without cuts).

In U.S. are used to invent words to describe new things. The English language allows them, so we are already hacen conocidos términos como googlear, bloguear u otros.

Sin ir más lejos, el libro llegó a mis hands thanks to my friend Claudio Orrego , which seems to be the only Chilean politician who understands these codes. To portray this real revolution in the way of doing politics, two protagonists of the story - Lowell Feld and Nate Wilcox, known bloggers Democrats - joined in creating the book Netroots Rising. In a little over 200 pages, the authors will print a stamp epic movement that takes less than a decade, but at the time of the digital age, appear a century.

The book arises from different experiences of cases, all occurring in the home of Democratic Party activists how online have created new spaces for participation. From the memorable presidential campaign of Howard Dean, when thanks to this movement began to take a new form of political financing, it now gives rise to Barack Obama to dispense money from lobbyists and basing his campaign on small contributions Internet personal, until the fall of Tom DeLay, the once powerful Republican senator, as a result of allegations of corruption that this movement was in charge of broadcasting.

No doubt the book's central argument is that over time the vertical decisions, where the party leadership or the establishment by the decision maker rest. Internet has given a new tool that lets you generate horizontal and participatory processes. Gone are the untouchables candidates and base their success on the charisma, increasingly rewards those who are more in touch and tune with their constituents. All this was concluded after reviewing the various cases presented by the authors, from the aforementioned Dean, to Kaine, Webb and even a small reference to Obama.
An interesting feature, that certainly adds value to the work that we have here is a book written by the characters, rich personal comments, interpretations, judgments of value and self-criticism in the past. Both writers are today, regarding their issues and do not hesitate to be acidic with their comments. Deserves special mention sly critique of the Obama campaign start, which he blamed his limited contact with the very foundations of the digital world and its apparent opportunism to hold the media to attract volunteers.

As Michael Moore puts it in his latest film - Slacker Uprising - Lowell Feld and refer to the Netroots can save the Democratic Party itself. We are facing a movement that shook the progressive side of the U.S. and tore the elite influence in this party, to return it to other people who share the same values.

What To Write In A Stagette Card

Regionalization: myth or reality?

Un lugar común de los recent years concerning the need for mechanisms of decentralization. All political sectors in all the forums, have ranted to the four winds the desire "regionalized." But is that enough?

There are certain basic premises that we must take into account when it comes to issues such as decentralization or, quite simply, a redistribution of power. The key first step is to assume that decisions, whatever they are, should be taken about those affected by them. Whether in public policy or some other political process, it is important to approach the victims and to incorporate their apprehensions, aspirations and concerns.

A second element relates to the effective control that can exercise the public about the actions of their representatives. The decisions taken centrally, without clear responsibilities for implementation or design lead to problems and obstacles such as the Transantiago. SUBDERE 2007, caught the warning light to say that 90% of decisions on public policies applied at national or regional level were taken in Santiago. Under that scenario, are we really building a correct address regionalization?

Therefore, we believe a good first step toward real decentralization it passes through the inhabitants of each region to select, understand and control the members of their regional governments. Today, those responsible for approving the regional budgets and investment projects that affect all inhabitants of the region, are elected by Council. This brings us to the question Do we know who are responsible for our money and how investing in our region?, Do we like to control the correct use of these resources? We call, therefore, to approve the project that is pending in the Senate today proposed direct election of Regional Councillors. But the road to the redistribution of power does not die in a mere election act, but this corresponds to a first step toward true representative and regional governments with high degrees of autonomy.

If we like citizen participation, then we need a courageous and resolute political class. Reforms like these involve large withdrawals of power, in order to return it to the public: these are the politicians that Chile hopes.

Face & Seal: Do they require special treatment politicians? Part II

* This is my column published in Revista Capital, owned by a comparison with the political scientist Kenneth Bunker. ( If you want to see the original, click here )

The issue of subsistence "wages" of parliamentarians has been on everyone's lips in recent weeks. The decision of the tragicomic MPs allowances increased benzene is not only lacking in discretion, but shows a lack of reality of our representatives. But one thing is how little common sense of the honorable and quite another is to think that wages in the public service should resemble Franciscan poverty.

One of the main aspirations of our country is to have a diligent and responsible political class, which protects the interests of the public and held in a true sense of right common. We are constantly looking for those who, full of sound vocation, with the impetus to put their hands in the muddy world of politics. But we can not pretend that all this activity is fed, only, of the goodwill of those involved. We need, then give them in this case, parliamentarians, the necessary resources to enable them to make fitness work.

Lately, the image of empty boardroom merely our opinion lead to believe that the country pays an army of drones who spend their time playing football. But the reality is far from that. While there will always be bad elements prefer personal gain or benefit to the sincere service, we can not carry that moniker to a majority of parliamentarians lead at every day, to its work and district policy. How do we expect a deputy or a senator pay level advisors to support it in its legislative work, if we do not provide those resources? How do we expect those whose districts or constituencies parliamentarians are flown vast territory and gather the concerns of their constituents if they do not facilitate the process? Propose, therefore, a system to ensure the proper use of public resources, which follow different mechanisms for allocating money according to the needs of parliamentary and its territory or constituency. An example to follow is that of the Library of Congress, which provides experts in various subjects to the deputies and senators, for the nurture of content and analysis. Another possible reform is to implement an adequate system of accountability, whereby all citizens can know where and how you spend your money. None of these procedures, or others who can create, involves a reduction of resources to this important branch of government, but a proper redistribution of the same. If we follow a wave of cheap smear, which tells us that all our representatives are bad and that everyone should go home, just do not bring anything to the construction the country. Democracy costs, and long, but worth it.

Face & Seal: Do they require special treatment politicians? Party I

* This is the first part counterpoint in Capital magazine published between political scientist Kenneth Bunker and server. This is the first column ( if you want to see the original, click here )

elections embody a mechanism for direct representation, in which each person elected recognizes the responsibility translating the preferences of citizens in public actions and policies. Now, in his capacity as representative, are implicit certain benefits and privileges that set them apart from everyone else. But how justified higher wages than the average? And, under what set method without being an area within the invisible market competitiveness? But more importantly, why are people considered most significant?

The preferential treatment to legislators is not a new topic. Aristocratic and oligarchic circles have expressed since the time of independence. While social and cultural differences have always been the most notorious enclaves, economic data are more terse. While it is natural to expect that legislators have extraordinary profits are the special benefits and the magnitude of these sums to those who call attention. For example, unnecessary and frequent trips abroad and the neat free tickets to attend the stadium and are common themes. And last but not least, the figures of the famous diets eventually lift the argument that lawmakers have excessive profits. In this vein, the central problem is that the amounts allocated as salary and various allowances, the parliamentarians are defined and approved by them. So, could increase indefinitely because they can not be compared with what is considered a reasonable salary, or ethical-adjusting to the common market.

However, normatively How should set such high salaries? The point is to observe the rates of participation of legislators in their own work, which should be directly proportional to salary. That is, if they participate in 100% of its statutory tasks, deserve the total salary. Unfortunately, the situation in Chile is far removed from that proposition. In the last litter of deputies, only 6 out of 120 have 100% attendance at meetings. Something similar happens in the Senate, where only 5 of 38 have participated in all sessions. Although there are laws that punish these absences, remain ineffective in its purpose.

While you can justify the hype innumerable forms of parliamentary allowances and the extra profits with legislators, we must not forget the substance of these people, their representative character. But beyond that, they should not forget them, who are provided with power have the power to legislate on their own future. Ergo, part of their responsibility is also to be emphatic to apply common sense and restraint when making decisions.

The convenience of not taking risks

* Column published in www.elmostrador.cl on August 27, 2008. ( to see the original, click here )

The current system has too many shortcomings to allow us to continue as is. Not only is the fact that these elections are those that have fewer registered in the country's recent democratic history, but that adds to this that in this election we have the oldest voter in years. In addition, the largest number of people enrolled in Chile are in higher socioeconomic levels, which would deepen inequality, economic and power structures that exist in the country.

few weeks ago, we watched perplexed as the Alliance candidate, Sebastián Piñera, mortgaged part of their presidential choices for the mere fact of being good neighbors with the UDI. An agreement had been kept secret not only prevented the adoption of the bill, but goes against the electoral claims that sector. CEP In a recent survey, the flagship of the Alliance obtained the best results in those who are not registered, especially young people. It is therefore incomprehensible, who has taken this strategy if you actually want to win. It seems that the right has a strong vocation for minority, feeds into position on the morning after pill and other issues.

The coalition, meanwhile, is square in a disciplined manner with the orders of La Moneda. While there is a greater belief within the ranks of the DC, have been forced to renounce their apprehensions to meet the commitments they entered. No doubt the ruling will take this vote as a tool of attack on the alliance, increasing the level of belligerence that we have seen in recent times. An attitude like that will not bring anything to the debate, but would maintain the status quo suits them both.

Build Expanding Dining Table

IR's Web justice ... Raise Ravens

The fear shown by the Supreme Court held accountable and explain the use of funds for the new labor reform, we must not remain indifferent. Beyond the destination or lack thereof incurred by the Ministry of Finance to consult this information, the important thing here is that the attitude of the judiciary is clearly consistent with zero interest for allowing the holding company and ask your accounts work. The judiciary, as an essential element of a healthy democracy, you must understand that is stuck in the past procedures and practices that are not consistent with what the public demands and needs of its authorities.

The very low level of approval and confidence showing the courts do no more than reaffirm the suspicions about the work of the same. The refusal of accountability for public funds belonging to all Chileans and also the use of an unwise attitude in a state of law, have returned to bring to the table a conflict that goes beyond politics, it is cultural. If we feel proud of the independence of the judiciary, we can not allow this to become a member untouchable.

Urge, then an understanding of this branch of government, the role that exercise plays in social and political paradigms: A society requires an informed citizenry authorities and admirable, not pucker the nose or the shoe hurts when they question their work.

Error Message F61 Technics

.... (Column in www.independientesenred.cl)

you are no longer the same as before, that his intentions are beyond what is reasonable, who lost the "mystical foundation" that are interested legislator. These and other comments have come from the new wave of demonstrations by students in recent months. The truth is that they raised them before, today I give it hard for the sole purpose of get rid of them.

Juan Eduardo García Huidobro, chairman of the Advisory Council concluded and education, said in a radio interview discomfort over the current draft of the LGE. The academic said the institutions in this area must be built by those who make education every day and not only by political actors. Without going any further, UNESCO took an unprecedented public statement which points out the need to take into account the social actors in making definitions of the new law. But instead of listening to experts and stakeholders, and participatory and inclusive decision-making, our political class does water presenting an agreement that leaves all happy, except to them that should not be ignored.

We must remember that reform structural educational system was an outstanding issue since the return to democracy. Successive coalition governments have not played mostly the subject, primarily by how difficult it would raise it to an adverse political scenario. Had to be "victims" of this event who put the issue on the table. Without the intervention of the Penguins in 2006, none of this would happen, and would still trapped in futile debates with the publication of the results of SIMCE or PSU.

Today, the Council completed and submitted the bill, we see that none of the information and requests of this movement - and none of other relevant stakeholders - was taken into account. It may or may not agree with his ideas, but that does not invalidate their position. Education is a public good, like it or not, and as such criteria must be participatory. An education reform reflects what we as a society, we want to be in the future. If what we want is what was approved in Congress, the future looks very black.

However, regarding the current protests, there is much to say. You have received a very powerful tool for social actors. We have seen that it does not move or paralyzed, gets nothing in return. If the truckers do not block the roads, no increase in the tax return. Therefore, if the students and teachers (ironically the segments involved in the educational process) do not move, then it is unthinkable that they can express their opinion. We have tried to reassure the child by giving them the notions of power, integrating the work tables or generating negotiations with them, but when adding their positions or at least explain its absence, they closed the door. We can not expect to sit quietly in the classroom as they see their future shattered by political agreements over priority courageous and determined action. Urge

in Chile, then processes effective citizen participation, to enable all sectors of society to express their views and opinions to decision makers. If we want to avoid demonstrations, strikes or shots, the choice is not disqualified or attack, but accept and understand. In short, getting the public to endorse the country's future.

WHY OBAMA (by Hernán Larraín Jr.)

Taken from www.independientesenred.cl

something seems to be agreement in regard to cross U.S. elections: what comes next George W. Bush, the better. Now the question is who, Obama or McCain. And while both have good reason to be elected, Obama represents the best option today, preceded by a phenomenon that is not just elections, but political and even social.

Obama has come to impose a political project is, above all, epic. Faced with this, good reasons or financial strength alone is not enough. In contemporary societies, the politics of emotions is necessary, and Obama is the best example.
is now repeated, but true: the current U.S. presidential campaign has already become a landmark historical, and that is just beginning. The central factor of this fact is called Obama. Chanted the explanation so far to describe his victory over Clinton, in addition to an innovative campaign and a clear message of hope and change, has been his charisma and aura of inspirational leader. But it goes much deeper than this. The primaries have managed to rescue the U.S. encourage the down anymore, due to the war in Iraq and the fragile economic situation. In this context, capacity has been key to revitalizing the ailing U.S. policy as a legitimate place to dream the future.

This has imposed in his speech the primacy of diplomacy over military force. For his part, McCain is a strong proponent of the invasion of Iraq and wants the U.S. to maintain "a peacekeeping force" indefinitely. Obama, who opposed the war, today proposed a withdrawal over 16 months. The message is simple: Obama is peace, McCain is war.
Another example is the freedom of action as a potential president Obama. The use of new technologies in his campaign has not only been a blow to the chair in the mobilization of bases, spatially among young people. The makers of 'Yes we can' have generated a grants to avoid Obama being co-opted by large corporate groups and lobbyists in the case coming to Washington. A single statistic: 94% of their funding is for grants of less than $ 200. The message? Obama is an independent, not McCain.

Examples abound and point to the same thing: Obama is a phenomenon and its story is not just marketing and rhetoric. Obama's narrative is, at heart, the heart of his project. And to beat this weapon, of course, will take more than good political rationality and traditional. But just ask Hillary.

Solidarity is not for sale.

Something is happening in the world of foundations and NGOs who are dedicated to overcoming poverty. From the various Managers of Social Responsibility and many companies look favorably upon mere philanthropy actions of giving money to these agencies. The sense of the Social Responsibility corrode from the moment we do not assume a full challenge of the company, but as a marketing strategy and, in some cases, clean image.

These NGOs, with emaciated coffers, willing open their doors to these funds without asking where they come from or why. Simply decide that their mission is so important that they are willing to reach a goal through any means. Years in Chile solidarity seems sold. From a telethon that accepts money from companies such as Leader, known for its poor labor practices, even as America Solidarity Foundation (for whom I have the utmost respect) that have recently agreed to be sponsored by Barrick controversy.

Someone might say that the system is well and that overcoming poverty is clearly more important than protecting a glacier in the desert. But clearly this is the mentality that Social Responsibility approach aims to break. Not to sound alarmist, But in a world where the fuel becomes a scarce commodity, where food prices are rising steadily and where global warming is no longer a little paranoia, it seems unreasonable to think about sustainable development as a second order issue.

is not feasible to maintain a Cartesian view of the problem. We can not think that overcoming poverty or exclusion are so indifferent to maintain a more balanced in their resources and needs. And the relationship between economic development and environment are in constant tension also is the issue of obtaining resources from the non-profit organizations. For more laudable the cause, it is irresponsible to initiate such an adventure without the challenge of making a full contribution to society. One organization, whatever it is, must take charge of their environment, their employees, their beneficiaries and, in the same measure, the country and society we are.

There is no such thing as a free lunch, so goes the well-known economists said. Today this is reflected in some people try to "buy the sky" by paying some mediaguas or maintaining a volunteer to absolve their sins.

What To Write For Bachelorette Party Card

I marched against the decision of the TC, so what?

One of the most shocking things that happened to me marching alongside thousands of others by the Alameda was viewed as different views came together in something basic: the right to decide. No doubt this is the most important of what happened today. I'm Catholic, and that might surprise my position as "logic" should be to the death to defend the decision of the TC. Well, in that sense I think the decision of the TC is not something to rejoice, but rather a matter of concern.

First, I think the discussion is not based on a scientific subject, even in a religious or philosophical. I think the issue is purely legal, if not political. We live in a secular and democratic country, as such, there are certain rules of the game that must be met in order to function.

The first rule is that we are all equal before the law, and in that sense, everyone has the right to make our own choices, without discrimination. Consider the following example (I thank my friend Rocio for this). A Hindu person openly believed in reincarnation, therefore, one of the reasons for not eating beef is the deep conviction that there is a soul comparable to that of a person. If you eat a cow or, worse, if he kills, which would be doing is to eat or kill a person.

La filosofía o la religión (Theology in between) looking to study the root causes of the universe, that is, those that are not susceptible to empirical proof, but rather rational and / or dogmatic. In contrast, science seeks secondary causes. In that sense, the certainty of the existence of a soul to the human equivalent of a cow, as the certainty of the miracle of life happens in the fertilization of the egg does not come from science but from religion or philosophy . Therefore, as we will not impose to stop eating beef, we will not stop those who want to use the pill's use.

Third, to live in a democracy, there are some questions to be answered by democratic means. A decision like that taken by the TC does not follow this logic. A body that strives to be the watchdog of the Constitution (which believe it is a commandment written in stone, unalterable), whose members do not obey any democratic logic, does not represent the population even less sense in secular and democratic regime like the one we advocate. Was not given adequate discussion at the public - only after this decision has been enough dialogue - and it was an issue discussed in Parliament. These are the ways in which democracy is manifested and, in my opinion, the CT missed these facts. In defense of the Court, we must remember that their function is legal, not political. Nevertheless, one of its members has been opened to put aside their convictions by blindly following the Church (democratic, right?).

Fourth is an issue that can not be determined and that is a burden that have been dragging from lack of definition of the constitution drafting committee. This theme is to where we are willing to protect the "life of the unborn." Or put another way, since when is life. As this is a definition in which science, objective observer, not the final word, we must ask the philosophy or theology does. But if we do that we return to the initial problem do we have the power to impose a philosophical, religious or ideological over another?. In a country with a political system like ours, this has no place.

Beyond the personal views (I am a Catholic, believe in life at conception and I am inclined to believe that the morning-after pill is not abortive), the most important thing is to set up where We can extend the power of the state in our lives. As a good liberal do not believe in socialist panaceas - or "progressive" - \u200b\u200bin which the state is the solution of the problems is, I think that solves problems of the country, organized citizenship. Thus, private enterprise, not state, is called upon to define intimate matters like this. Should be the people with his intelligence and discernment, who want to define whether or not to take the pill.

The magic of living in a democracy is that events may occur as today. A group is manifested in a certain way at noon and the rest is done in the afternoon, without insults or odiosidades (with exceptions, of course). All this implies that the choices we must go for that line: protect the right of individuals to choose how to live their sexuality.

reproductive self-determination, elevated to the category of Human Rights by the CEDAW treaty, signed and ratified by Chile, means that a woman can choose when, how and under what conditions to have a child. This is not incompatible with a Catholic concept, but rather gives them the freedom to have all those children God sends them, if they want. Just as we should condemn the Chinese state to ban the birth of more than one child per family, we should condemn that prohibit our state to decide the time of pregnancy.

The die is cast and only wait to see how the public is still evident and calling for a basic concept: Freedom. Hopefully we can go ahead and get a good result.

Low Prices, "at the expense of whom?

We have constantly seen as several companies have demonstrated their "concern" and "commitment" to the difficult economic situation of most of the country's population. Recently, a major supermarket chain has decided to freeze prices of 300 essential goods until September 2008. Clearly Many applaud the measure and appreciate the "sacrifice" that makes this company. The problem is that there is no sacrifice, but a real achievement and a good example to analyze what not to do in terms of Corporate Social Responsibility.

CSR means a commitment that the company takes with the impact that their actions have on their surroundings. Those who are in this environment are called stakeholders, ie all those to whom it may affect the action of the company. In the case analyzed, the stakeholders of a supermarket chain such as that described are several types: shareholders, employees, customers, communities living near the premises and suppliers (among others). It is the latter which suffer most from such measures as price freeze. The low pricing policies or freeze them requires that someone within this group of stakeholders to bear the cost of reductions in order to transfer the benefit to consumers. In this particular case, the company or its shareholders no longer receive the same income and same profit margins by product (as evidenced by their balance sheets), which should require at least another win this low price. This is the case of suppliers. Suppliers to supermarkets, with few exceptions, are companies with small or medium size, unable to influence decisions made supermarket chain, thus makes it impossible to oppose a reduction of their prices to allow the supermarket to sell cheaper to maintain profit margins.

words, a pricing policy between large areas of trade, including supermarkets, retail, pharmacies and others where there is domination by a few large companies, is in danger of becoming a way of affecting the development of the country's industry and to harm small and medium businesses that act as suppliers. These providers, therefore, must sell at lower prices - often arbitrarily set by big business and not the free market - their products at risk, often, not to cover their own costs. If this was the situation, it is not understandable that a provider continue selling its products in a supermarket in this chain, but the market is quite stale reference for a supplier who may suffer reprisals as rebels marginalization in the future. Without considering the cost of keeping the goods and not being able to cover at least part of the costs.

In short, when we see a large supermarket chain announced that it will freeze prices for a long time, regardless of factors such as inflation or other, just hide a bad practice in CSR. The company in question does not assume the impact of their actions on all stakeholders, but favors those who considered que mejoran su imagen, sin importar las consecuencias a largo plazo en los proveedores y en la comunidad en general.
